AR TRACK – every TUESDAY

Our track session is structured and suitable for all abilities. They are aimed at developing, VO2 Max, anaerobic and aerobic threshold and improved run economy. These sessions are designed for runners doing everything from 5km to marathons.

As with #AdventRunning, the sessions will be held within a supportive environment and first timers or those new to track should not feel worried about giving it a go. Any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. Look forward to seeing you at Mile End.

SUMMER – BUILD THE MILER

After mile legends, Steve Cram and Seb Coe, we are going to emulate Steve Ovett. Steve was the arch rival of Seb Coe and the two battled it out over many races during the 80s. Revisiting the 10x400s session.

As we approach the City of London Mile we are going to do a few weeks of mile specific track sessions. While these will help you get faster over short distances as VO2max sessions these will help longer distances too.

The session will be structured as follows:

Warm up
8 x 400m easy
Activation drills
Strides

Main set
10 x (400m with 3 minute rest interval)

Warm down
4 x 400m easy
Static stretching

NOTE
The main set is a hard one and each 400m should be run at a perceived effort level of 9 out of 10 – very hard. However, the recovery period is also long so you should be fully recovered by the time you have to do the next interval.

PLEASE BRING WATER/SPORTS DRINK AND REMEMBER TO EAT SOMETHING ABOUT TWO HOURS BEFORE THE SESSION.

As always you get full coaching, guidance and support from AR. Meet 7pm at Mile End Athletics Stadium.
